OZ Lifting Offers Patented Push Beam Trolley

OZ Lifting Products LLC is offering an expanded push beam trolley range with patented width adjustment and locking mechanism, and glow-in-the-dark decals.

The USA-manufactured trolley is fitted to an I-beam and is typically paired with a manual or electric hoist. The range was first launched with 0.5-ton and 1-ton capacity models, but it recently expanded the line to include 2-ton and 3-ton capacity units. The product, which requires no tools for installation, is suited to applications where quick installation and durability is required.

Steve Napieralski, president at OZ Lifting, said: “The width adjustment system makes the trolley one of the fastest and easiest to install in the industry. Manufacturers sometimes have different standard I-beam widths, whether that is on a jib crane or gantry crane. There are also some building sites that utilize wide[r] flanges.”

The range is entirely manufactured—and stored—at the company’s facility in Winona, Minnesota, and offered worldwide through a distributor network. OZ offers 8-in., 12-in. and 16-in. flange widths on the 0.5-ton and 1-ton systems and an 8-in. flange width on the larger units. It also sells separately the rod and bail, so if a distributor or end user has a 0.5-ton trolley with an 8-in. flange width, they can purchase the 12-in. rod and bail kit to achieve the wider flange.

Alternative, traditional-style trolleys use a number of washers (spacers) that adjust the flange width. Napieralski said: “This cumbersome system makes setting the trolley up very difficult and sometimes dangerous, especially when you get into the larger capacity trolleys. You must have an equal number of washers, so the bail is centered on the beam. Oftentimes, washers are lost, and it makes setting the trolley up in a safe manner difficult as the bail may not be in the center.”

The push beam trolley range is used in a myriad of sectors, including the construction industry, which proved the inspiration for the glow-in-the-dark decals on the open and close directions and measurement ruler system that shows the user how wide the trolley has been adjusted to.

Napieralski explained: “It is a typical industry where maintenance jobs, for example, would require the trolley to be installed-uninstalled multiple times. We were showing the clamp to a [construction] worker in the Chicago area and he suggested the idea of glowing decals. He said that frequently when he is installing a trolley there is limited light and the feature would make for a simpler and safer install.”

Another standout feature is that the precision ball bearing trolley wheels are completely shrouded by side plates, protecting them in the event of an item being dropped onto the wheels or bearings, or the trolley “rolling away”. Distributors and users have also highlighted the product’s lightweight, robust construction and its versatility in fitting most I-, S- and W-beams. An individual test certificate and serial number comes with every item.

The 0.5-ton and 1-ton capacity models are also available in man-rated versions for personnel tie-off.
