YOKE Empowers Industry to Achieve EU ESPR Conformity

YOKE Industrial Corp. is driving industry towards wholesale conformity with the European Union’s (EU) Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), which aims to improve the sustainability of equipment placed on the EU market.

YOKE manufacturers lifting and rigging hardware in addition to BlueSupra-branded digital tags and SupraNano encased Near Field Communication (NFC) radio frequency identification (RFID) chips. It offers Grade 80 and Grade 100 lifting chain fittings; swivel hoist hooks; shackles; angular contact swivels; wire rope clips; and lifting points. It either fits the SupraNano directly into steel or, for items such as a snatch block, utilises a retrofit tag to permanently attach it. Practically, it means that today every user with a mobile phone capable of paying a bill now also has the ability to check a component for a safe use instruction.

In partnership with RiConnect Inc. — ‘COMPLIANCE INFRASTRUCTURE for OSHA & HSE’ — YOKE is thusly delivering product to the point of use complete with Digital Product Passports (DPPs), which securely record verified information across a product’s entire lifecycle. ESPR represents a fundamental shift, requiring changes to product design, greater traceability of materials and components, and more robust technical documentation to demonstrate compliance as a condition of market access. A central feature is the DPP, placing further emphasis on YOKE’s latest hardware and software offerings.

While compliance is required for any product entering the EU market, manufacturers and suppliers worldwide are increasingly aligning with sustainability criteria rather than operating fragmented standards across regions. The regulation is quietly establishing a de facto global benchmark for product design, durability, and lifecycle performance. At the same time, its introduction of the DPP is accelerating the shift toward structured, shareable product data, forcing organisations to digitise and standardise information across their supply chains.

Steven Hong, president at YOKE, said: “Integrating digital functionality is a revolutionary step for the rigging industry; we want to pioneer the use of digitalised and sustainable rigging solutions globally. The benefits of equipment carrying a DPP are clear: beyond the regulatory framework, product information, inspection reports, and usage history can be tracked, making pre-use checks, maintenance and examination much easier.”

With a single scan, users can immediately access a suite of 16 key documents, including information on carbon footprint, recycled content, durability, and recycling or re-manufacturing possibilities. This serves to future-proof companies ahead of January 2027, when everybody is expected to be working to the EU Machinery Regulation and the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC is repealed. Eventually, the Machinery Regulation will eliminate all the different requirements across all of the EU member states, so they all follow the same regulation.

Hong added: “We are already providing the digital transparency the industry will soon require. Even in a conservative marketplace, YOKE is bridging the gap between traditional rigging and cutting-edge digital protection. We urge industry not to treat ESPR and the Machinery Regulation as regulatory requirements in isolation, but also significant opportunities to lead industry transparency and enhance resource efficiency. Thanks to DPPs, every product in a rigging store can digitally carry information, inspection reports, and usage history can be tracked throughout its lifecycle.”

YOKE remains committed to transforming compliance demands into business value, helping companies remain competitive in an ever-changing world.
